Holiday Highlight With Artists Charamath and Bolterrific

TeePublic

Got friends?! Sure you do!  There is no better time to tell them about TeePublic than during the busy holiday season.  With the referral program, artists can make $1 for every item a friend they referred sells, up to $1,000 and there is no limit to how many people you can invite!

In addition to some extra cash, referring other artists to TeePublic expands and enhances the artist community.

Read on for the full interview with decade-long friends Audre, aka Charamath, and her referral Tyler, aka Bolterrific!

Advice and feedback from artists, for the artists!

Q: How did you hear about the referral program?

A: I heard about the referral program through TeePublic’s designer emails.

Q: How has the referral program boosted your earnings on TeePublic?

A: The referral program makes about a third of what I usually make a month on TeePublic, so it’s been going pretty well.  At least it means my referred artist is successful, which is pretty awesome to see :)

Q: In your opinion, what are the positives of the program?

A: It’s a good way to encourage and support artist friends.  Many people don’t think about utilizing a site like TeePublic until someone close to them points out that their work would be perfect for it.  To see that grow into a decent source of revenue for them is really neat to see. Artists are often low on funds, so a new source of revenue that also lets you see your work in the wild when people wear it- it’s really helpful.

Q: What would you say the goals of the program are?

A: I think TeePublic realized that no one knows artists better than other artists.  The one reason I really enjoy TeePublic is that they look out for their creators.  They’re always swift to take action when someone pops up with designs they didn’t create.  One of the best ways to get not only good but also reliable and honest artists is to have an established artist essentially vouch for them.  The referral program is TeePublic’s way of finding good artists.

Q: Do you think this program promotes positive engagement within the artist community?

A: Yes!  I mean, there’s that ‘I scratch your back and you’ll inadvertently end up scratching mine’ aspect to it, but I don’t think there’re any artists out there who are somehow against helping a friend make money.  The program is more about helping artists to support and grow their own artist families. When you refer someone, you’re creating a network of artists supporting each other.

Q: What kind of communication do you two have when it comes to TeePublic and your art?

A: We have been friends for over a decade.  We used to go hiking almost every weekend back in college and nowadays we meet up on occasion to cuddle dogs, play board games and watch drag shows.  We both have busy schedules, but we still try to meet up and ‘talk shop’ about art and how well sales are going. For instance, I pointed him to the TeePublic Artist Group on Facebook.  And TeePublic is just one of our joint artistic ventures. I’ve also joined Bolt in his ‘Arting for Love’ Pride art charity.
