#TPInktober Contest Winner: Nevhada
Last month we decided to participate in one of our favorite worldwide design challenges: Inktober! What is Inktober? It's a month-long art challenge that runs every October, started by artist Jake Parker. Using the existing Inktober momentum that drives artists to create and share new work every October, we wanted to encourage artists to share their Inktober creations. That's where our #TPInktober design contest came in!
The design contest was an incredible way for us to see your work, and we're so thankful to everyone who entered. The response was awesome, and we ended up with a total of 927 designs submitted during the month of the contest! All of the designs submitted are available to view in our curated #TPInktober Shop. But there could only be one winner!
In the end, the grand prize winner was the talented and delightful Nevhada for her design, Sweet Like Poison.
We interviewed Nevhada to get a better sense of the person behind the artwork! Without further ado, here's our exclusive interview with our friend Nevhada.

What inspires your work?
Anything from things I’m passionate about like feminism, animal rights and queer culture, from my favourite movies and tv series to books and music. Anything that’s fascinating and interesting to me really!
What's your creative process when creating a new design?
Very simple, once I’m inspired and have an idea I just do lots of sketches to figure out what goes where. Everything else comes naturally as I go and as I had in mind!

---------------------------
How would you describe your design aesthetic/style?
I wouldn’t be able to put my whole style(s) in a single box really, I’d say it’s a bit all over the place, but always honest and true to myself and my passions.
Where'd your designer name come from?
From my love of aliens and UFO related things, I love all the mystery and pop culture around the area 51 in Nevada, US. The “h” in the name is just a common letter I have in my real name that makes a difference in its pronunciation, without the “h” it would be a different name, just like Nevhada.
What do you like most about being a designer?
Being able to create what I’m passionate about, and the love I get from people who appreciate my work.

How did you come into t-shirt design?
I’ve always loved creating my own t-shirts, even as a child. I love the idea of being able to express myself and wear a piece of art in everyday clothing.
---------------------------
---------------------------
What movies/shows/books/music/podcasts are you really into right now?
I’m keeping up with American Horror Story: Apocalypse which I’m really loving, and I’m currently obsessed with Bring Me The Horizon’s new single feat. Dani Filth called “wonderful life” – it’s amazing.
What three things would you bring with you to a deserted island?
Definitely a sketchbook and a pen to draw, it’s just two things but that’s the essentials, right?
---------------------------
---------------------------
What is your patronus and why?
Raccoons. they’re sometimes seen as “evil” but they are very clever, brave and would fight if they have to. They’re small animals but would defend themselves and try and get what they want.
What's your favorite t-shirt you own?
That’s a hard one, I love t-shirts and I love collecting them. My most beloved one though is a My Chemical Romance tour tee I got at their concert in Milan in 2011!

We'd like to thank Nevhada again for her great designs, and extend a thank you to everyone who participated in #TPInktober! Artists like you make TeePublic the tightly-knit community that we are, and we're so grateful for your enthusiasm and involvement.
XO,
